Just like Porsche’s Mission E study, the Audi e-tron quattro concept promises a driving range of more than 500 km (310 miles). And just like the Porsche, the Audi previews a production electric vehicle.

Audi will launch an electric SUV in early 2018 which is likely to be called Q6. The e-tron quattro study gives us a taste of what we should expect. Described as sporty, efficient and suitable for everyday use, the e-tron quattro has a drag coefficient of 0.25 and an all-electric powertrain with up to 370 kW (496hp).

Power comes from three electric motors: one driving the front axle, the two others driving the rear axle. While total output is 320 kW (429hp), for short periods of time the driver has 370 kW (496hp) and over 800Nm (590lb-ft) at his or her disposal while boosting.

It should not be a surprise then that the concept sprints from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.6 seconds and reaches an electronically-limited top speed of 210 km/h (130 mph).

The e-tron quattro has a 95 kWh lithium-ion battery integrated into the floor of the passenger compartment for a balanced axle load distribution and a low center of gravity. A full charge with DC electrical current at a charging column with an output of 150 kW takes just around 50 minutes.

The electric study features dynamic aids such as the adaptive air suspension sport, which lowers the body at higher speeds to reduce drag, or the dynamic-all-wheel steering, which combines a dynamic steering system on the front axle with a steering system for the rear wheels.
