Following a record first half-year, the BMW Group are off to a solid start in the third quarter, after posting their best-ever sales in July – 180,000 vehicles, up 4.0 percent.

Deliveries for the BMW brand are up 4.0 percent to 153,392 last month, while year-to-date sales, which total 1,139,947 units, representing a 5.6 percent increase over the first seven months of last year, were elevated by the 2-Series (113,233, up 43.6 percent), the X1 (111,639, up 69.6 percent) and the X3 (88,442, up 15.5 percent). A 6.9 percent increase, to 34,464 units, was achieved by the BMW X4, while the new 7-Series was chosen by more than 30,000 clients across the globe, up 40 percent.

MINI comes after a best-ever first half-year sales with strong deliveries in July, which total 26,439 units delivered worldwide, up 4.0 percent increase. In the first seven months of 2016, 201,337 MINIs were sold, up 5.2 percent, and the biggest growth comes from the Convertible and Clubman, chosen by 17,225 and more than 32,000 customers around the world.

In Europe, BMW and MINI sold 79,815 vehicles in July, a 5.6 percent increase, while year-to-date sales are up 10.5 percent, with 622,664 examples finding new homes. Contributing to the numbers were Germany (182,390), the UK (136,914) and France (49,755).

A 7.9 percent increase for both brands came from Asia, with a total of 56,819 vehicles delivered to customers in July, while in the first seven months of 2016, 417,730 units were sold, up 7.4 percent. The biggest market in the region was Mainland China, with 287,753 vehicles sold, up 8.5 percent, while Japan and South Korea accounted for 41,750 and 34,569 deliveries.

Sales of BMW and MINI in the Americas decreased 3.9 percent in July, with 38,097 vehicles, while  year-to-date, the two brands posted a 7.4 percent decrease in the region, with 260,621. Canada and Mexico, on the other hand, posted a 7.3 percent and 9.1 percent increase, respectively. In the USA, year-to-date deliveries were down by 9.5 percent, with 209,131.

BMW Motorrad’s monthly sales were down by 2.7 percent, with 13,792 units delivered, but in the first seven months of the year, the division sold 94,546 motorcycles and maxi-scooters, up 2.1 percent.
