When you think of brutal acceleration, you probably consider something that can hit 60 mph (96 km/h) in under 3 seconds as being brutally quick. That’s nothing compared to this water-powered, rocket trike.

Created by François Gissy, this trike recently hit the tarmac at Circuit Paul Ricard in France and accelerated to 60 mph in just 0.55 seconds and sprinted down the eighth mile in 3.95 seconds.

The acceleration of the trike is so brutal that Gissy experiences G forces greater than what astronauts encounter at launch, 5.13 g to be exact. We attempted to time its sprint from 0-155 mph (250 km/h) and got a time of around 3 seconds. Seriously. This thing is mystifyingly quick.

Hats off to Gissy for actually holding on for the wild ride. We couldn’t do that.
